Background

          Myanmar Cyber Emergency Response Team (mmCERT) was established on July 23, 2004 as an e-National Task Force. Starting from December 15, 2010, mmCERT was established within the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. On April 1, 2015, a subdivision named Myanmar Computer Emergency Response Team was established under the Information Technology and Cyber ​​Security Department, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Myanmar Cyber ​​Emergency Response Team (mmCERT) division was established under the Information Technology and Cyber ​​Security Department, which was restructured on July 28, 2025.

          mmCERT, a national CERT in Myanmar, is a non-profit organization that responds to cyberattack incidents. It was established with the aim of not only handling cybersecurity incidents, but also providing cybersecurity education to public, providing cybersecurity technical assistances and advices, and collaboration with local, regional and international organizations on cybersecurity.

 

Policy

          The policy of Myanmar Cyber Emergency Response Team (mmCERT) is to create a safe, secure, and stable cyber space.

 

Objective

          To enrich citizens’ cybersecurity knowledge and awareness and protect the country’s cyberspace by preventing, detecting, responding to and recovering from cybersecurity incidents.

 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of Myanmar Cyber ​​Emergency Response Team (mmCERT) are responding to cyber incidents, conducting cybersecurity awareness programs, cybersecurity capacity buildings, providing cybersecurity technical assistances and advices, and regional and international cooperation on cybersecurity.
